Floating Feather

Susan Howard Sapronetti was born and raised in North Florida. She is of Native American Muskogee Creek descent and is very passionate about preserving her heritage through art. She is member of the Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe and known by tribal members as Floating Feather, or in Creek as Tafv Okotafketv (dah-fuh oh-goo-dahf-keh-duh).

Floating Feather is a multi-talented artist with skills in photography, painting, Native American bead works, sewing, and a variety of other crafts. Her beadwork designs combine traditional Native American techniques and contemporary materials and she specializes in the Brick Stitch, Peyote Stitch, and loom work in her hand woven pieces.  She has sewn for over thirty years and enjoys keeping alive the art of Native American patchwork by making custom regalia.

She attended art related classes throughout school including a degree of Photography from Lively Vo-Tech and art classes in college. She is also an active member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Association. She has shown in local art shows, juried competitions and other events. Her talents first received recognition in the late 70s in photography and paintings.
